Special effort is made to perform and socialize with other children’s choruses within the Inland Northwest. In this opportunity, they are able to share and learn from other quality programs in our region. In the future, it would be a goal to take these singers to other cities that have children’s choirs, giving them an opportunity to share their music with those singers, and to be ambassadors of the Spokane arts community within the region.
Originally the South Hill Children’s Chorus supported by St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, the choir reorganized in 2007 to reach a broader age group and wider geographical area. As part of this new direction, the name was changed to Kinderchor of Spokane and 501(c) 3 status was established. Singers are accepted into the choirs based on an audition and personal interview with the artistic director.
A great piece about the organization was published by The Spokesman Review. Take a look at it here: Kinderchor Sets Stage For Childrens Artistic, Personal Growth
